Registered Nurse (RN) | Progressive Care Unit

About the Position

Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care / Medical-Surgical – North Carolina

Start Date: November 1, 2026

Location: Asheville, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts with 6 weekend days (Saturday or Sunday) per 6-week period. Unit operates 24/7 with day and night shift availability. Patient ratios: 1:3-4 for step-down patients, 1:4-6 for medical-surgical patients.

Highlights:

Mixed acuity 39-bed unit combining 23-bed progressive care step-down and 16-bed medical-surgical unit
Diverse case mix including tracheostomy care, chest tube management, cardiac drips, stable ventilated patients, and wound care
Cerner EMR system utilized across the facility
Supportive team environment with dedicated charge nurses and patient care technicians on every shift
Float opportunities to other medical-surgical and progressive care units for skill development
Contract length to be discussed with qualified applicants

Requirements:

Active RN license in North Carolina or eligible for licensure
Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience required
Experience working with tracheostomy patients is required
Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
Previous experience with Cerner EMR preferred
Flexibility and high level of clinical competence essential
